1st time in 30 years no one Baptized at our Assembly
by James Jack inat our assembly in alabama, no one got baptized, even though we added 3 congregations to our side in the circuit.
just looked at my wife and said wow.. yet ironically, the regular pioneer ranks have increased 45% in the last 5 years!.

Mind control.
by New day inin a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.

They use mind control and they know it, BUT... they think that it's good for them to do mind control because they have "da troof" and they have to use information control, emotional manipulation, and all kinds of other control tactics in order to "protect" the sheeple from the "mind control" and "independent thinking" of Santa's World.
And they've had articles on cults, but downplayed the way JWs are a cult and focused on things like: "JWs don't have one human leader they unquestioningly follow", "we don't use starvation or physical abuse to control members", "we don't isolate our members on a remote compound." Yet, the facts show that WT uses cult mind control in their own way that will differ from other cults.

It's that time of year again!
If anybody else here has been inactive like me and forgotten what the Memorial is like. Here's a reminder:

I love that the Yeartext behind the speaker is from the WT instead of the bible. LOL

Growing number of memorial partakers explained(?) by local elder
by stillin ini brought this up in a conversation after today's meeting.
the elder knowingly acknowledged the growing number and pointed out that of course, now we understand why this is so.
i gave my best blank stare and said "we do?

The elder knowingly acknowledged the growing number and pointed out that of course, now we understand why this is so... He said yes that it has to do with the overlapping generations....
does anybody here have a clue what he was talking about?
The only thing I can conclude is that he's drawn the conclusion (and a very reasonable one) that all "new light" is the opposite of "old light". It used to be that "generation" meant only 1 generation. The new light is a complete contradiction that it means multiple generations. Similarly, the old light was that the anointed would decrease until armageddon, so the new light must be that the anointed will increase until armageddon.
In any case, from now on I'd quote this brother whenever the subject of memorial partakers comes up: "Br. So-and-so said that the growing number of anointed partakers at the memorial is because of the overlapping generations." Then watch and see how others react.

Your gift was the severed head of one of her enemies, right? Having been raised a JW, I understand that it isn't really a birthday unless someone gets beheaded.

Our lab group from university had a reunion today, conveniently on pi day. We had pie for dessert. And in honor of St. Patrick's weekend, we also drank a lot of C2H6O (that's alcohol). -

I would like someone to define what it means to 'protect someone spiritually'
For that matter, what does "invisibly present" mean?
"Protect spiritually" is part of the mind control. Who is WT protecting the sheeple from? 'Satan and his system'. What is WT 'spirituality'? Invisible mind control. Does WT's condemnation of "Satan's system" and "this wicked world" protect JWs? In JW minds, it protects them from having sex with someone they're not married to. In reality, it prevents them from reporting crimes like this to the 'worldly' police and prevents them from saying anything that would put WT in a bad light.
"invisibly present" = visibly absent
"protect someone spiritually" = "victimize someone mentally and physically"

jw.org cart days numbered?
by jookbeard inreading a report of an elder in a friends cong has been hiding and spying on the pioneers who seem to have a practise of dumping the cart and finding a local coffee shop, i've noticed that they do this in my local high street as well but this week they seemed to be all huddled around the cart, they've clearly been warned, a vast percentage of the time i see they seem to be more interested in fiddling with their mobile phones and gossiping, is just seems these carts are a means for the pioneers to turn in "easy time" i wonder what sort of figures show how much literature is being taken by the public?
i bet its very minimal.
naturally the gb would say they are a phenomenal success , we clearly know they are not.

If you look at the topics from 12 years ago till now its always about...
They didn't have these literature carts 12 years ago. Now they have JW TV and people like my elderly parents are trying to learn how to use tablets; but 12 years ago, they were condemning the Internet and counseling against buying all these technological gadgets. 12 years ago, the magazines were more frequent and had more pages, the meetings were more often and longer. Congregations hadn't been shaken down by the Corporation for money like they are now. 12 years ago, WT still owned all those Brooklyn properties (Furman sold in 2004. Since then they've sold $804,375,000* of property in Brooklyn with lots of other branch properties sold or currently for sale.). So you have to realize that this forum is keeping up with the changes of WT in the last 12 years.
90% of the topics on here are ignored by me. I dont read them and i don't post in them.
To a great extent, you are ignoring the subjects and experiences on here that are constantly evolving. If you only look for threads about "WT Society to End Soon!" you're limiting your available information as much as only focusing on all WT's prophecies of "This System to End Soon!"
And the more information you have, the better decisions you can make.

It's on a Friday night this year. I can think of hundreds and hundreds of better things to do with a springtime Friday evening.
